Inspiration

There are so many people to give credit to for inspiring my work.

Number one is Donna Kato. My adventures with polymer clay (PC) began years ago when I watched her demonstrate and teach her techniques on HGTV’s Duvall Carol show. This was in the late 1990s, early 2000s. Donna demonstrated the versatility of the clay and impressed me with her level of craftsmanship, designs and details. The colors and methods intrigued me and I began more research and to dream of someday having time and resources to work in polymer clay. I slowly accumulated the tools and materials that are needed to work in this medium.

Countless tutorials freely available through www.youtube.com added more ideas and introduced me to the incredible range of techniques possible. When I retired in 2020, I began fulfilling my dream and started practicing different techniques. I became completely immersed in the craft. I experimented and practiced different techniques including making canes, sculpting and carving, color blending and piecing patterned clay into new veneers for jewelry, containers, sculptures and figures.

There are so many artists who have contributed to this adventure in clay. I am grateful to those who share their expertise.
